Complementary & Alternative Medicine
& Your Dental Client
A Course for Dental Professionals
Homeopathy is now a regulated profession under the RHPA. It is important to collaborate and assist Dental Professionals in understanding what Homeopathy and Alternative Medicine Practices are, and to help them understand what exactly it is that their clients are taking, and how it relates to their dental health, their overall health and any contraindications that may present.
In this course, you will learn
- What is a homeopathic remedy
- How Homeopathic remedies are made
- How Homeopathic remedies are tested (Using evidence-based research as the foundation for this learning)
Using evidence-based research, you will also learn specific remedies for the dental patient such as Arnica, Hypericum, Ledum and Calendula. The research will show a link between inflammation and healing. You will see specific case examples from both my Homeopathic practice as well as my Dental practice.
It is important to know and understand the common supplements clients are taking and what dental professionals need to know about their method of action within the body and any cautions or contraindications between supplements and pharmaceutical medications commonly seen in the dental client’s medical history.
I will discuss specific ailments presented in the dental chair such as angular cheilosis, oral candidiasis, herpes simplex virus, aphthous ulcers, hairy tongue and lichen planus. There are many supplements that increase healing and decrease duration of the client’s suffering. You will learn when and who to refer to when clients present in your chair with these common ailments, including links to layer your learning and suggested learning goals for your portfolio submission.
